The ecoscopic house is located in a bucolic residential at the foot of the Sierra Madre, on the outskirts of the city of Monterrey. At the threshold between the city and the mountain, the ecoscopic house was imagined as an assemblage of platforms that capture the flow of the ecosystems that crisscross it. This premise goes through an interpretation of the site beyond the boundaries of the property, and of the form, as the result of the intelligence acquired about the place in time.
The morphogenesis process of the ecoscopic house is informed by multiple variables; Geometric solar access tests and sun study, analysis of prevailing winds, regional currents and local breezes, flow models of surface runoff, observations of movement patterns of native species ... This complex evaluation results in a synthesis of plans carriers, linked slabs and variable beams that dialogue with the environment while seeking mutual stability. The ecoscopic house was executed in-situ, in an artisanal way, using elemental materials; steel, glass and concrete. In this way, the architecture of the ecoscopic house lands as an emergent apparatus specifically responsive to the resources that cross the territory, oriented by and towards local conditions; an indigenous ship ...
The house ecoscópica rises on a lot of 1,251m2 with a built area of 651m2 distributed on three floors. The best part of the ground floor consists of a vast open space (179m2) that serves as a social area. At the southern end, a prism of glass oriented to the sierra contains an interior garden that collects the area of the dining room. At the opposite end, a large asymmetrical window folds the corner in a bath of overhead light while the ceiling acquires double height. The living area seems to float over the park. On one side of this area, a folded cantilevered slab forms a porch (92m2) with panoramic views of the Huajuco Canyon and the Sierra Madre that serves as a social area outside the shelter of the sun and rain. The service sector of the house integrates a bright kitchen with pantry and utility room to a covered garage for two vehicles with the option to incorporate a third and a fourth uncovered. The ground floor has a total of 516m2 net of useful area; 230m2 of these are interiors and 286m2 of which are exterior. The lower floor, half-buried, adds 63m2 of social area that can be adapted as home-theater or game room with champagne.
The upper floor comprises 199m2 of interior useful area. The wing is conceived as an adaptable and reconfigurable zone to the ever changing needs of a family. In the present this integrates 3 terraced bedrooms with bathroom. The main bedroom is located in the west wing. The facade of the bedroom opens completely on a garden terrace (62m2) with spectacular views of the mountains while the bathroom / dressing area is organized around a patio in which we can take a shower outdoors.
