Towards Thuir, overlooking the varied landscapes of the Pyrénées-Orientales, from the hinterland as far as the Mediterranean Sea, this extraordinary mas was recently renovated by a Barcelona architect. The mas lies on approximately 44 hectares of land, and the project blends the beauty of local architecture with all the comfort and high-end equipment of a contemporary house. All year round, the house is a haven of peace and contemplation. In the 350 m2 living area, the main rooms are a marvellous cathedral lounge with impressive volumes and walls in warm stone, and a 54 m2 kitchen/dining room. The perfectly equipped kitchen opens generously onto the terraces and distant views. Five large suites in natural materials create peaceful atmospheres and a very special relationship with the exterior. The outside areas are totally integrated in the overall project, comprising a sequence of exterior lounges, each with its own theme – intimate, welcoming, spectacular –most of them with hypnotic views of Roussillon Plain. Around the immense and prodigious 20m x 3m swimming pool, many different areas are ideal for relaxation or sharing the hospitality of this totally unique property.
