Shaws Lane is a quiet cul de sac lane leading up from this thriving and popular village to the hills behind. Uppermill is largest of Saddleworths villages and is renowned for its eateries, pubs and specialist shops.
Saddleworth School is within walking distance as is the leisure centre and cricket club. Tame Valley tennis club, Tesco Superstore and the local railway station (Manchester Piccadilly 25mins) are in Greenfield, just over a mile away. A well-stocked Co-op supermarket provides many day to day needs in the village.
Saddleworth Golf Course lies on the other side of the village and Uppermill lies on the edge of the Peak District National Park with some lovely hill walks available literally from the front door. The local landmark Pots and Pans is a popular and testing walk. Sailing is available at nearby Dovestone Reservoir.
